Conference Theme

How can libraries and information centres improve access to women’s information and preserve women’s cultural heritage?

Scope / Objectives of the Conference

The Conference aims to discuss

• ways libraries and information centres provide access to feminist, human rights and gender information
• ways to preserve women’s cultural heritage
• the role of libraries and information centres in the internet era, and the role of the internet in democratising access to women´s information and information for women.
   

The deadline for submitting paper proposals has passed. The detailed conference programme will be announced in April.

Venue

The satellite conference will be held at the University of Tampere. The venue is Linna building (street address Kalevantie 5) on the main campus of the university. It is located close to the Tampere city centre, some ten minutes' walk from the railway station.

Preliminary programme

Wednesday 8 August 2012
Guided city tour by bus in the afternoon (optional)
Conference registration 5 pm
Welcome reception hosted by the city of Tampere in the Old City Hall in the evening

Thursday 9 August 2012
Late conference registration from 9:30 am
Conference from 10 am to 5 pm
Conference dinner in the evening

Friday 10 August 2012
Conference from 9 am to 1 pm
Lunch

The details of the programme will be available in March 2012.

Registration

The on-line registration opens in March 2012.

Conference fee is EUR 100. The fee includes a reception on the day of arrival, conference dinner on Thursday, and coffee/tea and lunch on Thursday and Friday. Information about the methods of payment will be published later.
